wii would like to play!

Yea, yea, yea! For anyone who knows me, I hope you'll agree that I'm not a big 'possessions' kind of gal. I have what I need, plus a few extra (hundred) books, with an occasional splurge on one or two new pairs of flip-flops every summer. (You can't beat Old Navy- 2 for $5!) What I'm trying to say is that we live pretty simply. No big game room in the house, no crazy expenditures beyond the basics. Until today.

Wii did it!! You might recall our quest to obtain a wii a while back. It ended tragically with poor hubby the very next person in Costco at the exact moment that they handed out their last unit. Oh, the horror. Man was he bummed. To tell the truth, I was just as disappointed. I know, it's totally silly. This is absolutely a non-essential item to our existence. But, when we have been at friends' or family's houses and played wii games, we have had a total blast. So, a good friend alerted me to a service called wii alerts, and I've been getting text messages and emails letting me know when online retailers have wiis available. I tell you- when they become available, they are scooped up like chocolate brownies at a party where I am a guest. That's pretty quick, trust me. I tried and failed several times to purchase a system when alerted, and many times the package being sold was much more than we wanted-- like the requirement to purchase four $50 games to accompany the basic system. Yeah, no thanks.

Until today. Thank you wii alerts, and thank you Amazon for making the basic system available at the regular manufacturer's price. Since we have purchased items from Amazon before, our credit card info was already in the system, so a few clicks after getting the alert, and boom! A wii is being set aside for wii us. (It gets addictive, sorry!) It won't be here until the end of April (quite a delay, yes, but I'm not about to complain!), and since we just e-filed our taxes last night, I don't even feel too guilty about the purchase, either!

Wii are happy campers. Those little guys can come and hand us our controllers now.
