But, how well do we really know each other, you may ask? Yes, let's drop the sappy tone with all the lovey-dovey talk... what better way than to play that little meme that's been going around on the blogs and the suck-you-in-world of Facebook. I've seen it called The Newlywed Game and How well do you know your spouse? Lovely hubby has agreed to play along, so we're starting with the same questions but we're not looking at each other's answers until these post get published. Ahhh... we could be the couple that leans into each other on the little couch and shares a quick smooch, or we could take turns beating each other about the head with the throw pillows. Let's see...
Here are the questions, with my answers about lovely hubby first, followed by my own personal answers for myself in parentheses below. Feel free to cheer us on, or mock us incessantly, however this little experiment may turn out.
There it is. So, how did we do??1. He's sitting in front of the TV, what is on the screen?
Tough one... if I have to pick just one thing, I'd go with College Basketball... tis the season.
(Comedy Central, baby!)
2. You're out to eat; what kind of dressing does he get on his salad?
Honey mustard, usually.
(Ranch all the way.)
3. What's one food he doesn't like?
Beans-- definitely. If he doesn't match this answer, I'm picking up that pillow. He HATES beans.
(For me, though, it's really freaking hard to pick just one... I am that classic picky eater. But I'm going with seafood, or more specifically shrimp, since that's something that he LOVES.)
4. You go out to eat and have a drink. What does he order?
Let's see, if it's lunch, it's a Sprite, but if it's the evening, it's BEER. He'll order 'the BIG one' when it's an option. Not being a beer gal myself, I'm almost sure that it's lagers that he likes. Oh shoot...
(No doubt- Amaretto sour. Probably the easiest question on here for him!)
5. Where did he go to high school?
Cornwall High School.
(Plainfield High School.)
6. What size shoe does he wear?
Sometimes it's a 13, other times it's a 14-- but not sure which one is for which brand. (Big feet here- 9 or 9.5!)
7. If he was to collect anything, what would it be?
Beer. Ha! No, my real answer is tools-- as in, his very own workshop tricked out with everything Sears has to offer.
(Oh... this one is harder to answer for myself... books is an easy answer, so we'll go with that...)
8. What is his favorite type of sandwich?
How about ham/turkey/American cheese with mayo, mustard, lettuce and tomato... at least that's what I make him if we have the fixings.
(Turkey and swiss with mayo on French bread-- yum!)
9. What would he eat every day if he could?
Fritos with that jar of queso that Fritos makes. Or beer.
(One word- chocolate. Nuff said.)
10. What is his favorite cereal?
Raisin bran-- the 'two scoops of raisins' one.
(One that I actually eat- Total. Ones that I never get to eat- Peanut Butter Cap'n Crunch... or Cookie Crisp, if you can call mini-chocolate chip cookies an actual cereal!)
11. What would he never wear?
This is a very hard one-- a tutu? a brasserie? a Red Sox jersey? I'm going to answer this one non-traditionally (aka, I'm going to get this one wrong), but I'm going with- a bare face. He'll never shave his mustache and goatee. Never.
(Hmmm... a thong. I don't get the whole intentional wedgie thing. At all.)
12. What is his favorite sports team?
Ding ding ding! I'm getting at least one right here! New York Yankees all the way!
(Whatever he roots for, in that pathetic wifey way. I'm not into sports...)
13. Who did he vote for?
The winner.
(Ditto!)
14. Who is his best friend?
If we're going with soul mate-BFF, well that would be me. If it's more along the lines of drink beers, talk about sports and do guy stuff, well that would be his buddy Drew. (We've been tight for about 9 years now-- Leslie, my other life-partner!)
15. What is something you do that he wishes you wouldn't do?
Another tough one... the list of potentials is pretty hefty. I'm going with running the water too strongly when I'm washing dishes. Even if it's not what he picks, I know he'll smile at this one! Or... farting. Whatever... a girl's gotta do what a girl's gotta do!
(Start projects... no need to go any further with this one...)
16. What is his heritage?
Irish-- Red's follicle characteristic had to come from somewhere, right?
(Um... a nice little recipe of French Canadian, Spanish and supposedly Argentinian... but I think the FC is a little more dominant than the Spanish parts given my pasty white complexion!)
17. You bake him a cake for his birthday; what kind of cake?
This is sort of a trick question, because his cake wouldn't be baked-- his favorite is Carvel's ice cream cake. Gotta love those little chocolate crunchies!
(Chocolate cake with chocolate frosting. And if he could work in even more chocolate, that would be great!)
18. Did he play sports in high school?
Oh yes, he was, and still is, a basketball guy. I didn't know him in high school, so I use that as an excuse for why I cannot remember what number he wore...
(Um... no. Thick glasses, no coordination... no sports.)
19. What could he spend hours doing?
Clicking away at whatever is the latest build-a-world-and-stop-people-from-blowing-you-up computer game in his laptop.
(Easy peasy one for him to answer-- reading!)
20. What is one unique talent he has?
Lots of things... how about juggling? Or, being able to say, "I could build that!" about SO many things and being completely honest about it. Or, making that mourning dove call with his hands cupped around his mouth. Or, making our kids giggle with tickling. Any of those.
(Oh... who knows? I can make a mean meatloaf!)
Keeping my fingers crossed,
This was hysterical to read! Your husbands was, too. Happy anniversary!
ReplyDeleteHappy Anniversary! This was a lot of fun! If only I could get my hubby to answer the question... Argentinian ancestors? How come? Being from Argentina myself, it's an intriguing fact.
ReplyDeleteMariela
Oh, M-- I don't know if my family is much different than others, but there's some confusion about where people came from... my great-grandmother (my mom's mom's mom) came to the US from Spain, but there are two stories about my great-grandfather (my mom's mom's dad). Some attest that he came from Spain as well, but others say that he came from Argentina... my mom mentioned that some extended-cousin said that they had found something (online maybe?) that said he entered the US after being in Cuba, so who knows! My grandmother was the last of 14 surviving children (several more that didn't survive either birth or early childhood), and by the time she was old enough to remember anything, her father had already left the family (I think for the other family he had... not sure about that, though... real nice guy...). All I know for sure are their names-- Setero and Euphrasia Trevino, and their last child, my dear grandmother Dolores!
ReplyDeleteI was totally going to say Fritos too but I figured if I had to choose it would be something I don't usually get to have so I went with the Carvel cake. Too funny. And dude - the Red Sox jersey is priceless. No way in hell would I put one of those things on!
ReplyDeleteI love you crazy lady. You and your monkey feet. *Can't believe you didn't get that one!!!*
I love family history and even though there is confusion, it makes for interesting tales. Hope you find out 'the truth' someday :-)
ReplyDeleteI'm actually quite impressed that you got so many. You did a pretty nice job there. I don't know that I'd get that many.
ReplyDeleteBut I have some nits to pick here. A 9 or 9.5 is NOT big feet. Cookie Crisp IS a cereal, and I used to love that stuff. I haven't had it in years....
Hey there! Thanks for stopping by my blog... I've been a little delinquent, but I think I'm getting it going again. I love these lists... too funny! See you in music with the kids?
ReplyDeleteFun! It's obviously been over a week since I've stopped by, and I feeling compelled to make my two-cents known . . . .
ReplyDeleteBut I'm definitely thinking that we should hang out sometime (and since my in-laws live right near Dulles airport, this is a real possibility you know) -- The captain's PB cereal is my favorite from childhood, and I remember eating Cookie Crisp, too, although it was a little sickly sweet as I recall (which didn't stop me from eating it).
Aside from our obvious love of books, I enjoy finding out similarities. My husband is a book sports fan -- playing and watching, although he truly hates the Yankees (as non-Yankees fans generally do).
There has been lots of basketball on recently and that just gives me more time to read. I imagine you could be doing the same each night.
