4: The number of Verizon customer service representatives who I spoke to today, with little or no success in fixing the multiple issues since our recent switch.
2: The number of Verizon customer service representatives who I had to insist upon giving me the bottom line answer to the issues that they were simply not addressing.
1: The number of Verizon customer service representatives who I told, "Switching to Verizon may possibly be the stupidest thing I've done lately!"
2: The number of children who have spent the entire day cooped up inside on a rainy day and opted to scream and cry for 90% of that time.
3: The number of time outs that Mommy had to take today just to remain sane.
2: The number of rooms with holes in the ceiling in our house.
What?? Does that not sound right to you? Did you think it was just down to the kitchen since that last leak? Well, you would have been correct until late this afternoon. Why's that, you ask? Let's just leave with one more stat from today.
1: The number of ceilings that I fell through while trying to navigate a darkened attic. Oh yeah.
The story is really kind of laughable, if you're not me right now, and I fully admit to not shining the flashlight down on the semi-floor while trying to search for something. My whole right leg went through the kids' bathroom ceiling, and I will be sporting a fine looking bruise on my sausage-like thigh by tonight. What a complete loser thing to do at the end of a cruddy day. (This was that cranky ranting I was talking about last time...)
With a bruised leg and beat-up ego,
Oh, just wait until you get where it's laughable. Then reread it. And scroll SLOWLY. Because when you hit that first picture? That is funny!
ReplyDeleteI'm so sorry. I'll go laugh someplace else.
We will be supplying some Young's Double Chocolate Stout next weekend to get you thru days like this.
ReplyDeleteI'm so sorry Dawn. You need to start drinking and/or popping pills. This is just craziness. I will come over and drink and pop pills with you if it makes you feel better to have a friend.
ReplyDeleteoh dear!!! i hope tomorrow is a better day!
ReplyDeleteI vote you tell hubby to bring you over here and drop you off Saturday night while he stays home with the kids. The girls will be here - we'll take care of you. :D
ReplyDeleteOK...since I last spoke with you on the phone late yesterday afternoon, I can say that my visual impression of the "falling through the ceiling" story fits the photos exactly. Thank you for posting them! Hubby will have that fixed in no time. I would be happy to drive you over to Trillian42's on Saturday night as long as Jamie wants to come with the "pills and the adult beverages."
ReplyDeleteToday WILL be better! :-)
OH MY WORD friend, really, oh my word. That is some CRAPPY times.
ReplyDeleteWow, glad we don't have an attic
ReplyDeleteIs today shaping up better?
ReplyDeleteSomeday in the future you will reread this post and laugh your butt off, I promise! Hang in there (just don't hang down from the attic next time). :)
=(
ReplyDeleteI hope tomorrow is better. (And I hate dealign with ANY cell phone companies!)
@Jessica- (I really gotta get your email address!) Yeah, today is alright-- I've kept my feet on solid ground, and the kids have napped for almost an hour and a half so far, allowing me to get some phone calls and such done. Thanks for asking!! :)
ReplyDeleteI'm glad you're ok!! Jeez, on the bright side, you could have been really hurt, and you just got a bruise, so I guess that's good?
ReplyDeleteOh No! Like others have already said...one day you will be able to laugh about this, but for now I'd recommend a lot of advil and chocolate. This has got to mean you are due for some really good luck now!
ReplyDeleteOh MAN what a crappy day. Sorry about the falling through the ceiling, but in all honesty, how many people can say they've done it. You have one more thing to talk about at sleep overs. Awesome.
ReplyDeleteOh wow. You need a drink.
ReplyDeleteI'm with Farrell (just tell me it isn't Farrell Allen my summer camp buddy from eons ago -- there are so few Farrells out there!). A drink sounds perfect for you right now... although I'm somewhat impressed that you can ALMOST laugh at yourself already. How's the bruise doing?
ReplyDeleteI really needed this "misery loves company" post after my son threw my blackberry [with a million business contacts] in a tub of water today.
ReplyDeleteI can still hear it ringing; I just can't answer it.
Glad you lived to tell the tale so someday your kids will know that their mama was really good at getting through hard stuff. They will need to know this someday and your willingness to work through it will be a strength to them. I know this from experience.
