nightstand notes/ wanna view some reviews?

Oh, I feel like I am just behind in practically every aspect of life right now! That being said, please forgive me my 5M4B combo post today. Comparing this month's reads to last month's nightstand notes looks like some actual measure of success (3/5 ain't too bad!), much to my amazement. Now, I have a whole new list of books to read for 5M4B reviews, with just one non-reviewing book in the mix right now:

*My Life as a Furry Red Monster: What Being Elmo has Taught Me About Life, Love and Laughing Out Loud by Kevin Clash-- I've wanted to read this one for a while now, and so far, it's a little heavy on the sappiness, but c'mon, it's Elmo! It's gotta be sappy and over the top, right?

*Hoot by Carl Hiassen-- reading this one with JAM, and not really enjoying it at all. We've been slacking on it, because of other things that need to be done, but I'm anxious to just be done.

*Admission by Jean Hanff Korelitz-- just started this one today, actually. So far, I like the tone and the main character's voice. We'll see how it goes.

*The Hot Mommy Next Door: A Quick, Easy, and Effective Way to Drop Your Baby Weight and Achieve Your Personal Best After Pregnancy by Alison M. Fadoul-- Lord knows I need this one, and once one of the above books gets knocked off the list, this one bumps up. We'll see if this one works for this not-so-hot mommy.

*Young Revolutionaries Who Rock: An Insider's Guide to Saving the World One Revolution at a Time by Dallas Jessup-- another 5M4B review book, and I'm looking forward to reading this teenaged activist's perspective on the need for youth service.

And while you're at it, if you're interested in viewing some reviews, I've had just a few up lately:

*Tony and the Pizza Champions-- a fantastic new children's picture book about Tony and his winning crew of pizza tossers. Adored the book, and LOVE the dough recipe!

*Old World Daughter, New World Mother-- part of the huge 5M4B Mother's Day giveaway. There's still time to enter!

*Mrs. Meyer's Clean Home-- another giveaway book, perfect for Spring Cleaning time. Check it out and enter!

*A Regular Guy: Growing Up with Autism-- a really engrossing memoir from a mom's perspective. This one was fantastically honest and eye-opening.

*The Great Gatsby Classics Bookclub Preview-- not a full review, but a preview for next week's bookclub. Wanna join in? It's a short book and an absolute literary classic. Come on, you know you want to take part.

Wow, was that enough links for you? What are you reading these days? Feel free to link up to the What's on Your Nightstand post! (Sorry, just had to include one more link!)

Bookishly yours,

  3. You're doing great! =) It all looks so fabulous. And yes - Elmo has to be cheesy and over the top. How could he be otherwise?!

  4. Thanks for stopping by. I love meeting other readers in the blogging world. I've set a goal to read through all of Agatha Christie's novels by date of publication, it's going to take a while, but I'm already about 14 books into the 82. :)

Looks like you've got quite a list yourself, I am bookmarking your blog so I can keep up with what you're reading. :)

  6. I have yet to tackle Gatsby even thought it has been sitting on the shelf for a couple years. Soon...

Thanks for dropping by. Your family is adorable.

  7. That is an interesting list of books. I hate when I think a book is going to be good, get disappointed in it, and then have that feeling that I have to finish it because I've invested so much time and energy in it. I hope Hoot gets better for you.

  9. Is it bad? I'm plowing through Twilight right now. And I just finished rereading The Kings Man (Sharon Kay Penman). And I have Love and Logic that I took out from the library but haven't gotten read yet.

Let me know how the hot mom thing works for you ;)
