JAM: "Mommy, I was wondering- when i get older, could you and Daddy give me an allowance?"
Me: "You know, that's something Daddy and I have thought about a lot. Now's not the greatest time, though."
JAM: "Yeah, in the economic downturn, I know."
Me: (somewhat stunned into silence, then I walk over and give him a hug) "I love you, buddy."
JAM: (sheepishly) "I've been listening to NPR, you know."
