I'm a-leaving on an Amtrak...

... but I do know that I'll be back approximately 30 hours later. Thirty hours! Did you hear that?? Thirty hours that will most likely be free of:
  • wiping any bottom that's not attached to my own body
  • preparing any food that won't be shoved into my own mouth
  • cleaning up any messes other than my own
  • sorting, washing, or folding of laundry
  • various Dora/Einsteins/Backyardigans songs
  • any screaming, tantruming, whining, crying, teasing, general kvetching... if I behave myself
  • or any of the other regular features of my kid-centric life
Thirty hours! Early Saturday morning, my guffaws-sending pal L and I will be boarding an Amtrak headed for New York City! NYC, for you cool folks. I'm not sure what the day will hold on Saturday, but we're hanging with her sister and making our way to Carnegie Hall that evening. That's right, Carnegie Hall!! I'll have to go through my closet of ball gowns tomorrow as I'm packing for the whirlwind weekend, right? Carnegie Hall= classy and formal, correct?

Um... not so much this Saturday.

We're going to Carnegie Hall to see this guy.


Oh yes, it's Stephen Lynch. Again.

Perhaps we could be classified as crazy fans, but L is the one who bought these tickets only shortly after we went to see him in March. I wasn't originally pegged to be her date for this show, but I'm thrilled that things have worked out this way! Not only do I get thirty mama-free hours, but I also get to sit in an audience full of other aficionados of off-color musical humor. Good, good times.

    I CAN'T WAIT!! Even though I seem to be suffering from a minor head and throat 'cold', (and the forecast is rain) I would not miss it! As long as I can still sing along, I'm happy. It's Carnegie Hall, baby!

    Hey, how fun!!!

    It's always the food thing that gets me. I don't mind cooking, but when I'm away and am eating something that I didn't prepare and that I don't have to clean up -- it just tastes so much better.

    Oh, have a blast! I'm so jealous! I can't imagine the heaven of 30 hours away...

    Currently I'm on the flip side--four days of single parenting while Erik is at a conference in Atlanta. Ho hum.

    Have fun! Although I think showing up there in a ball gown would only add to your enjoyment ;) Here's hoping you have no screaming, crying, whining, etc. I sometimes get those even without the wee ones!
