this week's guffaws

Years ago, I loved being the DC suburban working mom who took a weekly yoga class with her friends. Even with my constant fear of being the person who went a little too far down the relaxation road, (i.e. the one who accidentally lets one rip in a moment of class silence), I still enjoyed myself immensely. And I think I may have been a teeny bit more flexible after those eight weeks had passed.

Well, apparently there was something I didn't realize... I could have gotten all the same wonderful yoga benefits if my friends and I had instead spent those eight Wednesday evenings getting rockingly trashed in a local bar. Don't believe me? Ah, these pictures clearly support the theory.

Savasana

Position of total relaxation.

Setu Bandha Sarvangasana

This position calms the brain and heals tired legs.

Marjayasana

Position stimulates the midriff area and the spinal column.

Halasana

Excellent for back pain and insomnia.

Dolphin

Excellent for the shoulder area, thorax, legs, and arms.

Salambhasana

Great exercise to stimulate the lumbar area, legs, and arms.

Ananda Balasana

This position is great for massaging the hip area.

Malasana

This position, for ankles and back muscles.

Pigeon

Tones the body, and builds flexibility and helps get rid of 'stress'.

See? Yoga or drinking, seems all the same at the end of the day now, huh? (Thanks to L for sending this one my way... perhaps she would have enjoyed the drinking more than the yoga back then, too?)

Stretching to reach the straw to my cocktail while in downward dog,

  1. Love it :)

Dolphin done right is really freaky looking. Now I'm glad I can't do that one.

And the last pose? That's not pigeon. The pictures won't load for me so I had to go look them up manually, but happy baby I can do (ahhh, yay), but the drunk version? That's perfect.

  2. I had trouble with the pics at first too. The drunk "dolphin" is painful to look at. Funny stuff!
