a few of my favorite things

You know that life is good when one single day holds so many individual joy-inducing moments:
  • waiting for the library doors to open on a Saturday morning, and watching my children enter and get directly to the business at hand of finding books they will love
  • seeing JAM get visibly excited at his growing piles of library selections, and hearing Red "read" to herself while she makes herself comfortable in the children's sitting area
  • running into four different friends and acquaintances as we walk out of the community pool after meeting back up with hubby and Pudge
  • returning home from the morning excursions only to see all three children head directly to the couch with their piles of new library books
  • ignoring the mild number of undone household chores to spend the afternoon reclined on the couch reading with JAM or on my own
  • crying my eyes out at a YA book that astounded me with its authentic adolescent voice and touching story
  • hanging out at dear friends' house with minimal conflicts among the five children followed by an amazingly harmonious cooperative effort with clean-up and non-crying/screaming/fit-having goodbyes (even though it all took place a good 2.5 hours past the normal bedtime!!!)
  • getting a glimpse into the lives of my extended family who I never see in real life all through the joy that is Facebook, as well as leaving loving messages on my parents' pages
  • putting something that reflects my current frame of mind on my recently-much-ignored blog
  • heading upstairs for the evening before midnight
One day. A ton of pleasant memories. Can't ask for much more than that.

Remembering that I even got to pet the whiskers of a (former) kitten,
