rain, winners, & the final countdown

The semi-warm weather of the past week has decided to take its leave today.  In its place, we have dull gray skies and drizzly rain with temperatures that have dropped to a reminder point of the previous season.  As a result, there will be no repeat performance of Lazy Mom today- reading a book in an Adirondack chair on the back patio while the children bask in the novel glory of play food and dishes meant for use in the little outside play house.  With a lack of outdoor freedom today, our little living room is now covered in various toys and the volume of the children is confined indoors... which is not too pleasant for a mommy who may have had a teeny bit to drink last night.

The upsides?  It is Friday, which for this week is defined as "the day in which the parenting responsibilities once again are shared among two people, instead of one."  Woo-hoo!  Well, lovely hubby doesn't get home until later this evening, not until the children should technically be in bed already, but if all goes well, they will partake in a late movie tonight while we await the return of their beloved daddy.  (If they turn into complete monsters, I may be the evil mom that sends them to bed to wait for daddy's arrival.  I don't know if even I could be that mean...) Tomorrow is a full day of family activities, but I'm hoping for a miracle on Sunday morning which would involve 4/5 of the family vacating the upstairs level of the house in the morning, allowing a particular 1/5 to remain horizontal in her bed, with ear plugs in and eye mask on, luxuriating in a few extra hours of sleep.  A mama can dream, right?

And finally, this Friday also means that I get to officially close my first ever giveaway!  Out of the five comments, only three were eligible (since the other two were good friends who commented simply to say that they wished they could attend this event with their daughters but would be out of town at the time!), so for the three official entrants, the odds were pretty good.  I'd like to congratulate Rebecca Coleman and Susan, and their respective daughters on their selection via the good folks at random.org!  I hope you'll enjoy the Rosalind Wiseman event with your daughters next month, and I'm happy that you found your ways over here to enter!

That's about all folks.  Can I go back to bed now??

Thinking sunny thoughts,
