Yes, we're talking home improvement here folks. We're starting Day Three today (of five, if you clicked over to lovely hubby's fantastically organized daily schedule up there), and so far only a few items have had to be carried over from yesterday. When this all comes to an end, it will be magnificent. Glorious. Hallelujah, Joyful! A ceiling in our dining room is a luxury that we have not lived with for quite a long, long time. So, I have to keep telling myself to suck it up-- living with the kids on the second floor for a few days is a small sacrifice to make to have a finished first floor. Crown molding. Appropriate matching colors that don't make my eyes bleed. (FYI- choosing Chai Latte for your kitchen walls ensures that each and every morning you will be assaulted with color that screams at you like an overcaffeinated Starbucks junkie. Trust me, I know, it's been a few years.) Thanks to a wonderful friend who has helped us wade through a couple thousand paint cards, we should soon have a dining room, living room and kitchen with stylish wall tones that exude peacefulness in an otherwise rarely peaceful setting.
Day Three, bring it on. It's 7:30 in the AM, the kids haven't even woken up yet, and I'm sitting on my bathroom floor because it's the only room that isn't a state of remodeling or inhabiting a sleeping body. It's time to get this day moving. We have ceilings to sand and paint, and a kitchen to reassemble. Oh, did I say we? Yeah, I have kids to take care of while lovely hubby goes all DIY on our little house. Have I mentioned how much I love that Spackle Man lately?
Hoping for the next few days to FLY by,
Not fun to be living in the midst of it...have you ever heard about our kitchen nightmare? but stay focused on that end result and please, please be sure to post before and after pics. I am sucker for those. Wishing you a speedy finish and that wonderful feeling of relief and joy when you see it all come together. You are so lucky to have a Spackle Man!
ReplyDeleteOh DIY! So fun! I started taking down the kitchen wallpaper in our new house the other day to find PANELING underneath! Eek. Good times, being a homeowner :)
ReplyDeleteI love that you came up with a superhero name for your man!! I need to be so creative - makes the experience that much more fun :)! I support the before and after picture suggestion. Guess it's too late if you didn't take before pictures . . . I'm sure you don't want to put it all back just for our viewing pleasure. Do ya?
ReplyDeleteI am looking for picture updates! I hope it went really well!
ReplyDeleteUmmm no DR ceiling? Do explain. How do you keep rain out? And why? Why no ceiling?
ReplyDeleteGood luck... here's hoping it's all done by now and that you share pics of before and after soon. I want to see that chai latte paint!
I hope Day Three ended up productive and on schedule. :o)
ReplyDeleteI know that days can stretch when you feel that everything in your home is in chaos. But your discomfort would soon be rewarded. Hang in there!
ReplyDeleteUgh. I feel you. Good luck to you and Spackle Man.
ReplyDeleteSo how's it coming? All done? (fingers crossed)!
