wanna view some reviews?

It's been a bit of a slow reading time around these parts lately, but I've had a few reviews up lately, if anyone is even remotely interested.

* If you're looking for a unique and entirely intriguing novel, please ignore the depressing-sounding title and pick up a copy of The Household Guide to Dying by Debra Adelaide.

* I had the pleasure of hosting my first Classics Bookclub selection, with F. Scott Fitzgerald's The Great Gatsby as our topic. Although it was a small discussion turnout (was it something that I said??), it was interesting reading other people's takes on this novel of long ago.

* Oh my, this one was different. No Teachers Left Behind by HBF Teacher (that would be 'hopeful but frustrated') gives a fictionalized account of a middle school teaching and administrative staff, filled with stuff that made me question the possibility that garbage on this scale is actually happening. The sad answer, according to the talk among public school teachers who have read this book... this fiction is not that too far from reality, sadly.

* In honor of re-reading The Great Gatsby, I checked out the more recent movie version, made by A&E in 2001. You can check out my Books on Screen post, if you're so inclined.

* And finally, for the summer, I'll be hosting the monthly feature, Children's Classics, held on the 2nd Tuesday of every month. This month we tackled the question, "What children's books of today do you think are destined to be deemed classics?" Can you guess which contemporary children's book author/illustrator I opted to bestow this prediction upon??

Sharing the book love as usual,
