how do you get to Carnegie Hall?

Well, I believe we took the C train, but I could be wrong, since I can't read a NYC subway map to save my life. How Stephen Lynch got to Carnegie Hall is a whole 'nother question. I do believe that last night marked the introduction of a whole new vocabulary to the walls of CH, and perhaps the loudest laughing at inappropriate humor ever.

It was freaking fantastic.

With a band accompanying him on many of the songs, it was a mix of bizarre and beauty to hear the music of bass, cello, violin, drums and piano swelling gorgeously under the lyrics of questionable content. He did a bit more of his older stuff last night than when we saw him at the beginning of this tour in March, which was fun and brought back memories of shows from the past. He had all of his sidekicks with him, who were in and out with different songs, but for me, the best will always be simply Stephen Lynch on a stool with his cute face, spiky hair, and guitar.

There was one thing though that left us in a bit of a shock by the end of the show. No, it wasn't the content of the songs (which by many standards would cause us to be labeled horrible, horrible people), but for all the classics that were performed, including D&D, Beelz, and Down to the Old Pub Instead, for all the songs that he did from the new album, he didn't do the title track- you know, the one that this very tour is named for: 3 Balloons. What?? We just kept waiting, thinking that it simply had to be coming up next, and then suddenly, the show was over and no 'un-com-for-table place.'

So, I'm taking a moment to watch it here, since it somehow got misplaced on the Carnegie Hall set list. If you have no issues with foul language and adult-themed content, enjoy. (If this isn't your thing, I'm sure you haven't even gotten this far in the post!!)

Thanks so much for a grand time last night Stephen Lynch-- a unique Carnegie Hall experience, and the highlight of a mini-trip to NYC!!

Preparing for my return to the real world,
