I'm just getting ready to start Candor by Pam Bachorz, a YA novel that sounds amazing from the press release and the little bit I've read about it on some other blogs. A town that has constantly streaming "Messages" that brainwash everyone into behaving appropriately, especially the teenagers. Hmmmm... intriguingly delightful, right?? I'm thinking something is gonna go wrong here...
I also have a novel that will be released in January- The Swan Thieves by Elizabeth Kostova that will come up soon. A wonderful contact that I have at Hachette Books assured me this was right up my alley, so I'm looking forward to it.
For my online book club, that I've pretty much ignored for the last year, has chosen a book that's making me jump back in- The Catcher in the Rye by J.D. Salinger. Yay! I read it again a couple years back, and it was a whole different experience than it was in high school. I'm really looking forward to rejoining my online book pals and chatting about this classic!
And finally, I'm pulling a novel off my shelf that one of those online buddies sent my way a long time ago that got pushed back. Matrimony by Joshua Henkin- I can't remember much about it, but when she reviewed it, it sounded like a wonderful read.

I've heard very good things about "My Prison, My Home" on other blogs. I've not heard of either "Palace of the Strange Girls" or "This Little Mommy Stayed Home" but they both sound interesting. Off to check your reviews on them.
ReplyDeleteI've not heard of any of your books. Oh wait Catcher in the Rye
ReplyDeleteI do have to say the pictures on your header are too funny!
=D Yes, I'm just about done unloading my shelf! =) It's a good, good feeling!
ReplyDeleteBut it's hard to resist!
Such a great list, both the ones completed and the ones to come.
ReplyDeleteMy Prison My Home sounds interesting. I'm going to keep that one in mind after I've read and recovered from the next couple on my list.
I always love your reviews and I am also looking forward to Catcher in the Rye. Getting ready to start reading the Nook's December read (can't remember the title right now) and just finished reading Outliers which I highly recommend. Have you read that yet?
ReplyDeleteI saw that you commented on another post about Rebecca Wells' books. I have it (from Kyle) if you want it. I haven't read it yet.
ReplyDeleteI also have Candor for some reason. I'm assuming yours is a review copy, and since you are about to start it, and I am not even thinking about starting it, I'll leave it to you.
And I read (and reviewed) Matrimony -- on 5M4B before you joined the team I think -- or maybe 5M4M. Anyway, I liked it. Looking forward to your thoughts.
I am putting Candor on my be on the look out list! Happy Thanksgiving.
ReplyDeleteI just have to say that, when I first glanced at this post, the phrase "I also have a novel that will be released in January" jumped out at me, and I thought, "Whoa! No wonder she's been so busy!!" But seriously, that Candor one sounds really interesting. I'm also really looking forward to January's discussion. :)
ReplyDeleteI'm looking forward to the release of The Swan Thieves--there's been a lot of good buzz on it. :) I won America's White Table at 5M4B and received it this week. It's a wonderful book.
