- "Sopping Up An Oil Slick With Castaway Hair"-- Okay, the news about the oil spill in the Gulf of Mexico may be pretty old by now, but this All Things Considered story hits a different note in the story. Kinda gross, but so damn logical that I was amazed. Talk about "reusing" to help the environment!
- "Mother's Day At StoryCorps: An Animated Chat"-- Oh dear, did this StoryCorps interview make me cry. A very thoughtful and honest interview of a mom by a 7th grade son with Asperger's syndrome. If you've got four minutes and a box of tissues, you need to listen (and watch- it's an animated video clip, too!) to this one.
- "Having kids makes you unhappy, right?"-- With a title like that, you just know you want to click it! This short essay from Marketplace hits the nail on the head, and it's good post-Mother's Day reading.
- "Working To Stop Teens Texting Behind The Wheel"-- While I have a few years until JAM will be a driver (or for that matter, will be a cell phone owner!), this is a worthwhile Morning Edition piece to give attention to. The 'invincibility' belief will always be a part of adolescent development, but it does get scarier when technology creates more dangerous situations for teens to disregard.
- "Sandwich Monday: The McDonald's Secret Menu: The McRedacted"-- The Wait, Wait, Don't Tell Me blog does it again- another story about fast food that had me laughing out loud. Those are some funny, funny folks. (And if you want to know the real name of "The McRedacted," follow the link and scroll down to #15 McDonald's. Let me know if you ever have the guts (literally and figuratively!) to actually order one!)
- "In 'Heroes' From The Past, Lessons For A Son"-- This book discussion on All Things Considered made me add a new title to the books I want JAM and I to read together. This sounds like a perfect book for sharing and discussing.
- "Reclaiming Roles: Actors Play Beyond Disabilities"-- If you saw Glee last night, then you should take a few minutes to read this Morning Edition piece-- interesting perspectives about actors with disabilities and roles of characters with disabilities.
Sharing the NPR love,

I love your NPR posts. I just read the article on secret menus and I had no idea. The only thing I would probably eat is the apple pie mixed with the McFlurry. I am not sure how it would tast though. Hmm. I just told my sister I am craving McDonalds apple pie and french fries right now. lol
