now posting regularly

Holy.  Cow.  It's been a couple of weeks since I've expressed my love for NPR in bloggy format.  As a result, there was a slew of links and bookmarks saved, but I've tried to narrow it down to my absolute favorites.  Even when the story isn't necessarily timely anymore, I do hope you connect with at least a few of them!

  • "Five Senses, Minus One: Living Without Smell"-- A high school friend's father had lost his sense of smell and I always thought that was just so terrible.  (Except when we came home smelling like something that we shouldn't have and we didn't have to worry that her dad would notice...)  The memoir discussed on All Things Considered sounds absolutely intriguing!
  • "Million Dollar Idea"-- Oh This American Life, how I adore you.  For this week's episode, you've got to check out Act Four- "Don't Hate the Player."  This one is for you, hubby, because I know how much you loved that game show!
  • "Book Review: Bernice McFadden's 'Glorious'"-- After reading her novel Sugar, which drew mixed reactions from my online book club, I was interested in hearing a review of her new book Glorious.  All Things Considered plus book review equals happy Dawn.
  • "Ramona Quimby: The Mischievous Girl Next Door"-- With an interview with Beverly Cleary and some interesting tidbits about some inspirations for the story, this Morning Edition story is a must listen to for fans of Ramona.  As you can imagine, I'm more than a little hesitant about this movie, although JAM has indicated he wants to see it... we shall see on that...
  • "'Star Wars In Concert' Puts The Force In The Music"-- Yup, long before I heard about this on All Things Considered, I knew it was coming to D.C. and it totally sucked that hubby and JAM couldn't attend.  But... they said there will be additional dates added... maybe next time around?
  • "Tweeting With The Birds: Pitch Tent, Switch To Wi-Fi"-- With our second ever family camping vacation coming up in just a few short weeks, this All Things Considered story cracked me up.  And not only that, but my dear friend who we'll be camping with again called when she heard it on her drive home, too!  For the record, not only will our campground have no wi-fi, we won't even have electricity.  Seriously.

Ahhh.  Now that feels better.  I'm happy to be back in NPR business.

Until next week,

    1. I did love that show, and I've hear about that guy winning all that money but never his back story or what happened later. This was so interesting. Sounds like that guy needed a LOT of help. Glad you thought of me when listening to it. :)

    2. Kari was outraged that I didn't tell him I'd seen an obituary for Daniel Schorr. He caught some news blurb a day or two later. I'll share your link.

How do you keep up with all this stuff? (Ha! my word verification is "storeth!")

    3. Oooh, I have that This American Life on my ipod. Gotta listen. I'm way behind actually.

And I DID hear the WIFI story. Cracked me up.

You know what you have to do if you watch Ramona and Beezes right? Amanda was going to see it with friends, but it fell through.

Maybe when/if we get together (I'm happy that it's probably a WHEN now), we can just sit around and listen to NPR?

    4. Too funny! I'm an NPR fanatic myself. Like Jennifer, I have that TAM on my iPod and now I know I MUST listen to it :-)

But I'm surprised you didn't mention my all-time-favorite show, "Wait Wait Don't Tell Me." Funniest show on any media.
