sweet! it's cybils time!

Check the calendar and you will see that tomorrow is October 1st.  The beginning of the breakneck-speed cycle of Halloween-Thanksgiving-Christmas decoration sales, yes, but not what we're talking about here.  Tomorrow, right at midnight, the Cybils season begins!

If you spend any amount of time in the company of children's literature, then you need to know about the Cybils.  Anyone can nominate children's and young adult titles between October 1st and 15th, and from there on, groups of volunteers from the book blogosphere work in two stages to narrow down the massive lists of nominations to individual winners across a variety of nine categories.  Still have some questions?  Head to the FAQ section!

I'm beyond honored to be a part of the Cybils for a second year, and I'm so friggin ready to get my reading on as a part of the round one panel for Picture Book Fiction category!!

Time to give props to the other bloggers who I'll be joining in this fabulous quest:

The 2010 Fiction Picture Book Panel

Panel Organizer: Pam Coughlan, MotherReader

Panelists (Round I Judges):
Emily Beeson, Homespun Light
Pam Coughlan (see category organizer)
Travis Jonker, 100 Scope Notes
Natasha Maw, Maw Books
Dawn Mooney, 5 Minutes for Books
Kiera Parrott, Library Voice
Jennifer Wharton, Jean Little Library

Judges (Round II):
Becky Bilby, In the Pages
Katie Davis, Brain Burps About Books
Tess Goldwasser, Kid’s Book Blog
Melanie Hope Greenberg, Mermaids on Parade
Danielle Smith, There’s a Book

And now it's your turn.  Head to the Cybils and start nominating tomorrow!  You should know that you are only allowed to nominate one title per category, and each title is only allowed to be nominated once, but don't worry, the form will tell you if the book you love has already been loved by someone before you.  Still wondering about the official rules?  Definitely head over to that FAQ page, will ya?

I've got my lists ready for midnight tonight, and I'm uber-determined to get a couple books nominated before anyone else.  (Fingers are crossed already.)   And once the nominations are all in, the kids and I will be spending tons of time with picture books, and I can't wait to find out about the books that we've somehow missed this year.  Fun, fun!!

Looking forward to watching the noms roll in,

  1. your enthusiasm overwhelms me.

or maybe that it's after 1 AM here and I really am tired enough to sleep now...

I will check out the form though, I've only seen the Cybils thing in passing through you uber-book people but not dared delve in to figure it all out yet.
