Those three words greet visitors to the QwikShower Wipes website, and you know what? They're speaking the truth. Okay, maybe not all of the kids out there stink, but if they're in that 10-18 range and they have gym class or sports practice at a time of day when they cannot immediately jump into a shower afterward, it's as true as it gets. There's a certain funk that wafts out of the dugout by the 6th inning at my own son's baseball games, and I couldn't imagine loading more than one of those stinky kids in our van at the end of the game.
Maybe we're crazy parents (maybe?), but both hubby and I have a thing about not wanting any of our kids to be "the stinky kid." We're just entering the world of pre-adolescence with our oldest child, and it's simply going to be a fact of life that he gets sweaty and stinky when he plays hard. When he can't get into a shower before having to be around others (i.e. me), it's nice to know that there's an easy and convenient option that is actually effective in the QwikShower Wipes. While baseball season may have passed, my son still has found a regular use for the wipes. He doesn't have time after gym class to use it, but he's taking part in a weekly after school sports club where he plays basketball pretty hard for up to 40 minutes. He has reported feeling "much better" after using a wipe after the club is finished, and he doesn't stink to high heaven when he comes home!
I wanted to give the wipes a try myself before writing up a review, and I found the perfect situation for me to do so-- during naptime, if I use our Wii Fit game, I actually do work up a bit of a sweat, but by the time I'm done at least one child is awake and demanding attention/snack/assistance/etc. Since I can't jump in the shower at that time, I thought using one of the wipes would be an alternate option instead of just being smelly for a couple of hours.
My experience?
- It's a good sized wipe--10" x 12", bigger than an standard piece of paper-- and let me wipe my face, neck, back and underarms, and was still moist enough that I could have kept going!
- The scent is mild and didn't linger on my skin, which I liked since I'm not the kind of person who likes smelling like products.
- The wipe didn't dry my skin out, which I'm particularly prone to.
- I did feel refreshed afterward, instead of sticky!
- I'm a fan of the fact that they're individually wrapped, so that a supply could be kept for occasional use without worrying that the lot will dry out before getting used up.
The literature I was sent with my four sample wipes gave additional suggestions for use, with illustrations of a golfer wiping down after a round, a guy cleaning his arms and hands after working on his car and a camper cleaning his body on his campsite. Oh, that last one is ingenious! We hope to do more family camping in the spring, and I can see how these would be helpful!
Lots of uses, that's for sure, but I still think the main idea is the best-- these are perfect for tweens and teens to use after gym class, sports practices and games. Easy to slip into a backpack or duffel bag!

Thanks to QwikShower Wipes for the review samples.
