Oh my. It appears that I've been turning on the radio less in the last couple of weeks, due to both the elections (which I like to read about, but end up getting too overwhelmed by listening to news coverage of) and the arrival of a new CD which has been in constant rotation in the kitchen player. (More on that tomorrow. Woo-hoo!) As a result, I have a lame-o two NPR stories to link up this week.- "Train The Brain: Using Neurofeedback To Treat ADHD"-- I didn't hear this piece when it originally ran on Morning Edition, but the headline caught my eye on the Facebook feed, and if something has to do with ADHD, I'm very, very likely to click on it. This was interesting, although not very applicable, since we're not likely to be able to pursue an approach that costs thousands of dollars and doesn't have a core of research backing up its efficacy. Maybe for future generations?
- "Stacy Schiff: "Cleopatra""-- I caught a portion of this Diane Rehm Show story the other day, and I've also read a little about Schiff's new book. This topic intrigues me for the simple novelty of it- a female ruler is surely to have had more than one story go down in the history books. Although I'm not terribly big on nonfiction reading, this one might make its way to my bookshelf for a slow read.
Even on a slow week, still very much adoring NPR,
