Okey dokey... here's what I got:
- "Now Hear This: 2010 National Book Award Nominees"-- Okay, so this one is a little old since the winner was awarded last week, but I had saved this story because it was the first announcement of the nominees that I had heard. I was thrilled to discover that I had read, and really enjoyed, one of the nominees, Lionel Shriver's So Much for That. It's an incredible book, and I'm happy that I recognized it as a 5 Star Read on 5 Minutes for Books!
- "Applying for a job via voicemail"-- Oh dear, I heard this on Marketplace and it made me fear ever having to apply for another job because I don't leave the best voice mails... I hope this doesn't indicate a new trend!
- "How Much Does Birth Order Shape Our Lives?"-- There's been a recent focus on siblings on NPR stories, which always interests me. This Morning Edition piece called to me as a first-born!
- "When One Sibling Is Developmentally Disabled"-- Another Morning Edition story that spoke to me, and I can relate to much of what the author is saying, even if my sister's situation isn't exactly the same.
Happy Thanksgiving and happy NPR listening,
