tuesdays in the patch

In my ongoing quest for blog-world domination, I'm happy to be featured as a weekly columnist on our local Patch!  (Okay, clearly no goals for domination, but I'm still pretty excited!)  Have you seen Patch?  It has reached 18 states, and the District of Columbia, and the individual sites are fabulous community resources, for hyper-local news reporting and information about what's happening in your very own city.

If you're interested, you can spend some time with me each Tuesday with my column Bringing Up Three, Greenbelt Style.  I'm trying to make my posts a nice combination of universal themes with local details.  So far I've pondered how much freedom is appropriate for my oldest child, the safety rules that I think really matter, connecting with nature at a local lake, what hanging out with friends looks like in the parents-of-young-kids world, the fun of fall festivals, how all moms are 'working moms,' trick-or-treating with the wild things, the trends of super-babies, the beauty of a weekend away from it all, and the joy that comes from a trip to the library

Ten posts in and I'm just loving everything about Patch.  I like reading articles about the events of my immediate community.  I like connecting with others through my column, and knowing that they probably just live right down the road.  If the latest online trend is hyper-local focus, I can certainly understand the appeal.

Do you have a Patch in your community?  If not, why not email Patch and let them know you want one?  For us here in G'belt, it's a fantastic resource and I'm thrilled to be a part of it!

Happy to be writing,
