now posting regularly

Sure, a week goes by without an NPR post, and suddenly I've got a Radio Bookmark filled with outdated stories. We all know that Trump Roast was served at the White House Correspondents' Dinner, and we're all talked about out the public "celebrations" that took place after the killing of Osama bin Laden. Here are a few more recent pieces that have caught my ear on NPR.

  • "Jodie Foster Talks About 'The Beaver' And Standing By Mel Gibson"-- While Mel Gibson is in the same category as Tom Cruise for me- crazy wackadoos to whom I don't want even a tiny fraction of my movie-going money to go to- I'm intrigued by this new movie, and I've enjoyed listening to Jodie Foster talk about it here on All Things Considered as well as on a previous Diane Rehm Show, too.
  • "Betty White Still A Hit, With Ever-Younger Fans"-- Listening to Betty White talk to Liane Hansen on Weekend Edition Sunday was as fun as I imagined it would be. I love her perspective, and I'm so happy that she was given a resurgence in her pop culture status!
  • "Calling All 'Cool Aunts': It's Time To Get 'Savvy'"-- I have a friend who I thought of immediately when I saw this story pop up on the NPR Facebook feed, and when I read the piece from Weekend Edition Sunday online, I was struck by this statement: nearly 50 percent of American women are not mothers. There certainly seems to be a place for a book like this!
There you have a 100% pop culture/literary NPR round-up. Sometimes I need a little break from the news, apparently.

Happy Wednesday,
