a do nothing day

We all have days filled with something- meetings, play dates, carpools, busyness of one kind or another. Coming off a couple of days like that, I was determined to have the complete opposite type of day today. The kind of day where PJs are an acceptable wardrobe option well past wake-up time, the children get indulged with "special occasion" treats like a movie and yummy goodies, and I ignore the to do list and the chores and simply be with the kids.

Instead of giving a half hour to this:

I spent 90 minutes snuggled up with them:

Watching this:

It was new to them, and there were strong emotions:

Special treats were consumed:

And hands were held:

Following movie time came two rounds of our favorite ABC game:

 

Incredibly, the morning had passed by at that point, and we slipped right back into our regular lunch and nap routine. I'm thinking that if the sun keeps on shining, we're going to do our afternoon's worth of nothing at the pool.
