now posting regularly

Summertime sees us out and about a little more, so I've got just a handful of NPR stories this week. One of them is perfectly suited to understanding one of the best ways to spend such a summer afternoon.

  • "Rory McIlroy: It's Not The Feat, It's The Humility"-- As with all sports, I really know very little about golf, and I care to learn about the sport even less. BUT. How could I not notice McIlroy? I appreciated this piece about the value of the personality behind the athlete.
  • "Hundreds March Against Sexual Assault In 'SlutWalk'"-- I believe the topic of this All Things Considered story will provoke readers/listeners to react in a variety of ways. My own reactions are mixed, and while I probably wouldn't participate in an event like this myself, I do appreciate the intent behind it.
  • "Why Hammocks Make Sleep Easier, Deeper"-- I love to hear about brain research, especially when it's presented in a way that simpletons like me can understand. This piece from Shots: NPR's Health Blog confirms what I already knew to be true about the wonderful sleep that can be had in a hammock, but it also goes into the effects that the gentle rocking motion has on the brain in relation to sleep. Cool stuff.
